Merry Christmas & A Repeat Impressions Sketch - D2513

I hope you all are having as wonderful a holiday season as I am.  I spent Christmas Eve with my 2 favorite guys - my husband and our grown son.  Today we go to spend the day with extended family.
To make the day even more exciting, Repeat Impressions has a sketch for us.

For my card, I used RI image 716-G Moon Angel from the Thank You Series. I wanted to keep that moon & stars theme going so I embossed some stars on the color strip behind the focal point.  I happened to have this variegated blue paper for the background which worked out perfect for this card.

This sketch is a challenge so feel free to play along.  Link your card here - on the Repeat Impressions blog and you will be entered into a random drawing for a wonderful prize - a $25 gift certificate to the RI store.   This is a great sketch to work on if you are looking for some peace and tranquility after all the holiday chaos.

Have a blessed and safe holiday season.

Repeat Impressions - What If? Wednesday - Sketch D1113

Happy chilly Wednesday morning from Central Wisconsin.  We are at -6 degrees here and that's not counting the wind chill.   Brrrrrrrr!

There is not a whole lot you can do in this cold weather, except maybe make a few cards and Repeat Impressions has the perfect sketch for you.

For my card, I gave the sketch a 1/4th turn.  Both these images are from Repeat Impressions.  The sentiment is 2206-H Let it Snow .  Those lovely snowflakes are RI image 8805-K Snowflakes.  The matting on this card is a dark blue glitter paper unfortunately it looks very, very dark in all the photos.

So if your looking for a way to stay warm, you have an awesome sketch to work with. Create your own card, link it on the RI Blog, and you will be entered into a random drawing for a $25 gift certificate to the Repeat Impressions store.  You can see the full details of this challenge here.

Thanks so much for stopping by.

Project of the Week at Repeat Impressions

I'm thrilled to bring you this weeks Repeat Impressions, Project of the Week.

Like most card makers, I completely focused on making Christmas cards and this project is no different.  I am going to show you how to make a masked and embossed snowflake card.

RI 6004-M Snow Positive is the perfect stamp for this project.

snowflakes vertical positive

Along with a stream line stamp, you will need a VersaMark ink pad, white card stock, white embossing powder and a heat gun.  Using VersaMark, stamp your image in the desired location.   Sprinkle the wet image with white embossing powder.   Shake off the excess powder and set with the heat gun until the embossing powder is has the lovely shine.

Here is a closer look at that white on white - embossing powder on the white card stock.

Use scraps of card stock and repositionable tape to create a mask at the desired location on this card.  This RI image is perfect for this technique since it has a definite, crisp edge to work with.  I just place my card stock scraps right along the image edge.   Using foam sponges, apply various shades of blue ink completely covering that masked window.  I used lighter colors in the center and darker along the outer edges.

Remove those card stock strips of paper and you will see how that perfectly inked strip of color sets off those white embossed snowflakes.

The sentiment I used is RI 423-G May all your dreams.....  I stamped the sentiment with VersaMark,  sprinkled with a dark blue embossing powder and set it with a heat gun.

I went a dimension further and added these beautiful snowflake die cuts (die by Memory Box) with some amazing bling in the center.

Here is another look at the completed card.

Thanks so much for joining me on this weeks Project of the Week.  I hope you get an opportunity to give it a try.

Thanks so much for stopping by and sharing my Project of the Week.

What if? Wednesday at Repeat Impressions means another awesome sketch.

For my card, I used RI image 802-K Moose Family Silhouette and the sentiment is also from RI - 3109-F My Heart

I love these images - no coloring necessary just accent them with the right patterned paper and embellishments and you have an awesome card.

Meljen - Black Out

Things are getting busy around here but I wanted to take the time to play along with this weeks challenge at Meljen's Design.   Their challenge this week is Black Out - using a black card base. That's a  freebie for me. Lately black has been my 'go to' color.

Here's a close up of my card so you can see all the bling and that I popped the sentiment - also a Meljen image.

Thanks so much for stopping by.

Repeat Impressions DCC - Giving Thanks

Today's RI DCC challenge was chosen by fellow repeat RockStar Deonna Bemish - Giving Thanks.  What a perfect challenge, so timely.

For my card, I used RI image is 211-P - Chickadee at Rest.  I love this image.  I've used it many times and you'll see me use it many times more.  The sentiment is also from RI - 3213-G - For the Beauty from the Thanksgiving series.

This card needed just a little something more, so I took some inspiration from a friend of mine.  She likes to use burlap on her cards and it always looks so cute.   I grabbed just a small square of fabric, gathered it in the middle and tied it with some twine.   So cute! Thanks PK for your inspiration.

It's time for you to express your thankfulness.  Create your own thankful card, link it on the RI blog, and you will be entered in a drawing for an amazing prize - one of those unmounted full sheets of images from Repeat Impressions.  Go here to see the complete details and to see the beautiful creations from the other RI RockStars

I am thankful that you stopped by.

DCC - Snow Fun

It's DCC Wednesday at Repeat Impressions and this weeks challenge was selected by Melissa Cash - Snow Fun.  Unfortunately, here in Central Wisconsin, snow is all tooooooo close to the truth.  We generally don't have snow until mid November or later, but we've had some flurries in the air the last few weeks.  Nothing has accumulated, but after the long, never ending winter we had last year, its a little frightening to see flakes again.

I've decided to stick with the theme of the challenge - Snow Fun - and just go ahead and have fun with it.  For my card I used RI image The Original Snow Angel - 4706-G.  I just love that little snowman making his snow angel.  How cute is that? The sentiment fits this theme perfectly. It is RI Snow Much Fun - 8810-H

No matter if snow makes you happy or sad, take today to have fun with it.   Create your own snow fun card, link it on the RI blog and you will be entered into a drawing for an unmounted sheet of stamps from the RI store

Have a super Wednesday!

It was Karen's turn to pick the Repeat Impressions DCC challenge for this week, and she has made a great pick - Paper Piecing.

Paper piecing is definitely a challenge for me.  I just don't 'see' things in that form, so it is always quite a struggle for me.  This is my version of paper piecing.  This RI image is part of Cupcakes 9302-P - part of the Pairings Series.  The sentiment is from that same series - Yummy 9310-E.

Here is a close up so you can see that I've 'popped' the cupcake top.

So, is paper piecing easier for you than it is for me? Show us your version of paper piecing. Link your card on the RI blog, and you will be entered into a random drawing for an amazing prize - an unmounted sheet of images of your choice from the RI store.  Go here to see the complete challenge rules.

Monday, October 7, 2013

Good Monday morning!  I’m Joyce and I’m thrilled to bring you today’s Project of the Week for Repeat Impressions.

Have you ever picked up a stamp and instantly know exactly what you’re going to do with it?  That what I felt when I saw this Repeat Impression’s image – Bats – 2308-E. I just knew I was going to stamp this on acetate.

That is exactly where I started this project – by stamping the image on acetate.  Now, I know that not everyone has acetate on hand, so an inexpensive substitute is to use clear packaging from product you have purchased recently.  I used a cover from a box of scrapbooking paper that I had purchased.  You can use any flat piece of clear packaging that is large enough for the project you are creating.

I always use Stazon ink.  It stamps a clear image that dries perfectly for projects like this.

The trick of working on a project like this is to find a way hide any adhesives.  I find that sandwiching the acetate between lays of paper works the best for this.   Using a double stick tape is the best way to secure things in place.  I’ve secured a solid color card stock to the underside of the acetate and printed paper on the top side.  The printed paper is just a smidge shorter to create a matted look.

Sandwiching the acetate in this way creates a clean, finished look on both the front side and back side of your project.

Back side of projects              Front side of projects

Now, it’s time to decorate the card.  The sentiment is Repeat Impressions Boo!-2316.

I hope you get a chance to try this very simple technique to give your project a very special and unique look.

Thanks so much for stopping by.

Joyce
