DCC - Black, White & Red

It's DCC Wednesday at Repeat Impressions.   This weeks challenge was selected by Rock Star Cheri Weston - to create a card using black, white and red.  How fun is that?

I had been pinning several black and white cards on Pinterest, so this challenge was perfect timing for me.  I just love when things fall into place like that.

Here is my black, white and red card....

I used Repeat Impressions image 8623-D You Brighten My Day.  The red paper is a glitter paper.

You brighten my day

So have black, white and red card been on your radar?  Now's the time to put those ideas together, show us your creation, post it on the Repeat Impressions blog and you will be entered into a drawing for a $25 gift certificate to the Repeat Impressions store.  Go here to see the full rules.

Don't forget last weeks sketch challenge.  You still have a week to enter that challenge.

Please note - I've also entered this card in the following challenges:

SOTW - Today is a Gift

We had a great weekend!!!  Our son was home for the 1st time since he left for his co-op.  Yeah!! The weather was actually a little brighter and a little warmer, even if we did get more snow.....again.

Nothing brightens my Monday like the SOTW at Repeat Impressions and as always, today's stamp of the week is a beauty.  It's called Today is a gift - 3113-H.

Yesterday is history, Tomorrow is a mystery. Today is a gift... That's why we call it 'the present.'

Since this is the featured SOTW it is at a super, whopping 50% off this week only.  Go here to get it at that special price this while you can.

This is a very meaningful verse, so meaningful, I wanted it to be the focal point of my card.  At the last card club meeting at our LSS, Karen Hasheck gave a demo on the chalk board technique.   I love this look and knew I had to give it a try.  This sentiment seemed like the perfect place to do that.

Here's my card............

I stamped this lovely verse with Versa Mark and then added white embossing powder.  I added a simple flourish image above and below the sentiment and heat embossed them in white as well.   I added a simple outline in white colored pencil at the border of the paper and then smudged everything up with some basic white chalk ink.   I love this whole look and best of all - its super simple.  I added some colorful chipboard butterflies for accent.

Here's a close up.....

Remember, this lovely image is available this week only for 50% off.  Get it at that price while you can.

There are also 2 challenges running right now at the Repeat Impressions blog.  Play along for a chance to win an awesome prize - a $25 gift certificate to the Repeat Impressions Store

Repeat Impressions Sketch #F2013

Its What If? Wednesday at Repeat Impressions.  I know I say this every time but they have another awesome sketch for us this week.  I love sketches like this.  Its a perfect way to create a classy CAS card.  It almost creates itself.

f2013

Here's my take on this sketch.  I wanted to keep this card very simple and elegant.  I stamped this lovely RI verse - Beautiful Day - 9206, then I used this Sizzix embossing folder above the verse.  I flipped the card stock and embossed it again below the verse.  Embossing in this way gave my focal point that elegant, simple, classy look I was going for.   Beyond that, I basically followed the sketch to every detail.  Like I said, this sketch basically creates itself.

Here's a close up....

Here are the amazing cards from the rest of the RI Rock Stars.  Aren't they all lovely?  Try it for yourself.  Create a card using this lovely sketch, link it on the RI blog and you will be entered in a drawing for a chance to win an amazing prize - $25 gift certificate to the RI store.  Go here to see the full rules.

Don't forget, there also is last weeks DCC challenge - using your favorite stamp - hopefully your favorite is an RI image, but if not, that's okay too.  Feel free to play along.  You still have another week to participate.  Go here to see the full rules.

Please note:  I am entering this card in the following challenges:

As always, I hope that I've stayed within the rules of the challenge.

More SAS4K Cards

Yesterday we (the design team) posted the cards for the new challenge at Send A Smile 4 Kids (SAS4K).   I am lovin' the images we rec'd from Doodle Pantry.  It seemed like the images I used were just perfect to brighten the day of sick kiddos, so I made a few more cards using those same images.

I mean, what sick kiddo wouldn't want a warm fuzzy.  I know I could use one when I don't feel well.  Here are a couple more photos.

Not only did these turn out to be a super cute cards, but it also is a great way to use up some of my scraps.  If you know me at all, you know I hate tossing out any paper, no matter how small (okay, I'm a border line hoarder), so this is a great way to put some of my scraps to good use.  I love that!    and best of all, these cards are going to a great cause.  I have a small stack that I need to get out in mail this week.  Yeah!!

Don't forget to participate in the current SAS challenge - you could win one of the great prizes from our sponsors.   We'd love it even more it you could send those cards in to brighten a sick kiddos day.   See here for details how to do that.

Send A Smile 4 Kids - CAS 4 Kids

Weekends are awesome, especially when part of that weekend includes S.A.S4Kid's Saturday. We start a new challenge today - CAS (Clean and Simple) cards 4 kids.

I've really been enjoying being on the design team for S.A.S.4Kids.  It's a great reminder to not always take things so seriously.  That there are more difficult things to deal with than winter weather & standing in a checkout lane.  That there are sick children in hospitals and that a simple way to help brighten their day is to make greeting cards that hospital staff can give to them.

The theme of S.A.S.4Kid's bi-weekly challenge is Clean & Simple - CAS for kids.  As always there are 3 great sponsors.

  • Doodle Pantry is giving 3 digi images of the winners choice
  • Heather Ellis is also giving 3 digi images of the winners choice
  • Fred She Said is awarding a $10 gift certificate to one lucky winner

Here are my cards.  On the first card I used this adorable image from Doodle Pantry.  Isn't this image cute?  The sentiment is also from Doodle Pantry.

Here is my second card.  This adorable image is from Heather Ellis.  Soooooo cute!!!

Go here to the S.A.S. blog to see the complete rules and to see what the other gals have created.   You won't want to miss their inspirational cards.

Now is your chance to play along.  Just create a CAS card that is kid friendly,  post it on the S.A.S. blog and you are entered in a drawing for those great prizes I was telling you about.

I am also entering these cards in the following challenges

  • Card one:
  1. Simon Says Stamps - White on White - Ends 2/20
  2. Perfect Sentiments Challenge - Animal & Sentiment - Ends 2/19
  • Card two:
  1. Try Stampin' on Tuesday - Challenge #105 Sketch - Ends 2/18
Thanks so much and I hope you play along

DCC Challenge - Using Your Favorite RI Image

It's DCC Wednesday at Repeat Impressions - That means one of the Rock Stars picks the challenge for the week.  This week the challenge was chosen by Kecia Waters - Using your favorite  Repeat Impressions image.  The tricky part - how do you narrow it down to one image.   After much debating........is it the Rebecca image, is it that darn cute penguin with the stocking cap, is it those awesome wildlife images.......I finally decided on this lovely image called Chickadee at Rest - 211-P.

chickadee on pine branch

This is one of those classic images that is always fitting, it will always be 'in style' so that's what makes it my favorite.  It could be used on a guy card, a Christmas card, a sympathy card - the list just goes on and on.   I can myself still having this same image 20 years from now and still lovin' it.

Here is the card I made using my favorite Repeat Impressions image.  I also used a great RI sentiment - Thinking of You.   Again, one of those classics I use often.

So do you have a favorite Repeat Impressions image?   Or a favorite image in general?  Bring it out, ink it up and create a card.  Link it on the Repeat Impressions blog and you will be entered in a  drawing for a chance to win that great, great prize of a $25 gift certificate to the Repeat Impressions store.

I hope you'll play along.

Repeat Impressions SOTW - Scruffy Puppy

It's SOTW Monday at Repeat Impressions and this week's stamp is one of my favorites.  This adorable dog is called Scruffy Puppy - 8120-K.   I'm not much of a pet lover, but even I am oooowwwing and aaaaaahhhing over this amazing image.  It makes you just want to pat his head and scratch his ears.  Soooooo cute!

shaggy, happy puppy dog

I had a blast playing with this image - here is what I came up with.   This card will be perfect for any dog lover.

Here is a close up......

What if? Wednesday Sketch Challenge

It's What If? Wednesday and as usual, Repeat Impressions has an amazing sketch for us.

f613

I'm lovin' how this card turned out.  The jaunty little angle of the focal point really gives the card that extra punch.  Having a gorgeous image is just the icing on the cake and this image fits that bill - it is Repeat Impressions Daffodils 904 - L

For more inspiration, go here to see the gorgeous cards the other Repeat Impressions Rock Stars have created.  Then its time for you to show us your creation.  Create a card following the sketch, link it here on the Repeat Impressions blog, and you will be entered in a drawing to win a $25 gift certificate to the Repeat Impressions store.

Sassy Cheryl Challenge #151 - Thinkin' Pink

It was quiet, laid back weekend here for us.  We didn't go to any super bowl party - my hubby has to get up for work super early  in the morning (3 a.m) so he stayed up through the half time show, then went to bed.   I'm obviously not going to bed at 7:30 so I stayed up to play my crafts a while longer.  That gave me time to finish a card for this weeks Sassy Cheryl challenge - Thinkin' Pink.

I love this adorable image - its one of my favorite Sassy Cheryl's.

This adorable paper is from My Mind's Eye - a 6 X 6 paper pack from the Lost & Found series called Madison Avenue.   These adorable pinks were the exact color I was looking for.

It's kinda late, so I gotta get going. Have a great week

Lady Anne's Christmas Progressive Challenge

Lady Anne's Challenge blog is doing something different - a progressive challenge.  We received two free digi Christmas images - those who complete this months challenge will receive the images for next month's challenge.  I thought I'd give this a try to see how it works out.

The first image we received was this touching Bethlehem silhouette.  I love religious images for Christmas so this one was perfect for me.  The light brown paper in the background is a very mild print that doesn't show up well in the photo.

The second image we received was this cozy candle lit centerpiece.  So pretty!

Here's a close up.  You can see that I used that same mask technique on both cards.  On the 1st to enhance that bright Christmas star and on the 2nd card, it highlights the glow of the candle in the centerpiece.

So, I've made it through the first step of this challenge.  I'm anxious to see what they have for us next month.

Thanks so much for playing along
