Repeat Impressions Blog Hop - Series 9600 Bottoms Up!!!

It's a huge day for me!  I have two blog posts today.  If your looking for my Meljen's Design's post, you will see it below, just scroll down.  If your here for the Repeat Impressions blog hop, Welcome!!! I'm glad your here.

Wendy at Repeat Impressions really has her creative juices flowing.  You may remember we had a blog hop last month for her new Wine Time series.  Today we are unveiling another new series - Bottoms Up!!!

Being from Central Wisconsin, I can tell you right now, I will be using the beer mug & beer sentiments a LOT!!!

For today's card, I went with the 9606-K margarita glass with the 9612 -F Citrus Slice. I wanted a fresh, summer look so this bright print paper fit perfectly.  I popped the glass to mimic the curve of a real drinking class and I also popped the lemon slice.

This is a blog hop so that mean a prize - an unmounted sheet of the Bottoms Up Series. You can have as many as NINE chances to win, by commenting at each blog involved in the hop - see the links below.  Comment on one blog and you will earn one chance, comment on 3 blogs and earn 3 chances and so on. Comment on each of the blogs and the Repeat Impressions blog, and you would have collected a total of nine chances....Hey, that is pretty good odds!

Complete the hop and post your comments no later than 5pm eastern time on Sunday, June 1st.
You will be amazed at all the awesome creations you will see along the way.  Lets start hoppin'.

Meljen's Challenge #212- Sketch Challenge

I have really been enjoying my time as guest designer on the Meljen's design team.  This week we have another fun challenge - a sketch.

For my card, I used Meljen's Designs image - Acorn Mouse.  What a cute image and I love how the acorns turned out.  I colored them using a couple of my favorite Copic color combos - E51, E53, & E55 for the acorn cap and E31, E33 & E35 for the nut.

Instead of a sentiment I colored an additional acorn image and popped it to add dimension.

Now its your turn.  Create your own card using the sketch above for inspiration.  Remember, you must always use at least one Meljen image.  Link that card to the Meljen's Challenge blog and you will be entered into a random drawing for Meljen's Design images.

Thanks for joining me.

What If? Wednesday - Sketch M2814

It seems impossible, but it is Wednesday already - and its a What If? Wednesday at that.  That means an awesome sketch challenge from Repeat Impressions.

For my card, I used Repeat Impressions 9118-K Chevy from the Big Boys Toys series.  For the sentiment, I used RI 9007-E Sweet Things from the Summer Series.  The combination of these two images makes a fun & classy card.

So now its your turn.  Create your card inspired by this week's sketch, link your card to the RI blog and you will be entered into a random drawing for an awesome prize - a $25 gift certificate to the Repeat Impressions store.  You can see the complete rules here - at the Repeat Impressions blog

Repeat Impressions - Project of the Week

Happy Monday Morning!!

I'm Joyce and its my turn to present the Project of the Week for Repeat Impressions and I have a simple and fun project to show you.

Believe it or not, that is only one adorable pig image stamped several times.  They are all turned at this angle and that angle to create the look of a whole bunch of dancing pigs. Carefully matting them on black paper gives that filmstrip look.  So cute.

The first step is picking out the image you want to work with, and this adorable 909-G Ballerina Pig is a perfect example.

I stamped the image several times at different angles.  Actually, I ended up stamping 6 sets of the image to get the look I was going for.

Next, I colored my images.  I used Copic markers R00 & R20 for the pigs body and B21 & B23 for her adorable little tutu. That's it!!! Just 4 markers.

I had to play around a little bit to figure out what size I wanted to make my 'filmstrip' but in the end, I made my black background 1 3/4" wide.  I left the strip about 7" long and then cut it down to the exact size after I had glued it down.  The size can very depending on what angle you use so its better to have them too long than to run short.

Each little piggy image is cut an 1/8" narrower than that black strip and I made the each image 2" tall.  You can adjust yours any way you choose to, based on the size of your image.

I really played around with my images for a while to get them laid out the way I wanted.  When I did adhere them down, I left just and 1/8" between each image. You just want a little bit of black peaking through.

Once I had my filmstrip assembled, I used foam tape to mount it to my card front at the angle I liked.  After it was adhered, I trimmed off the excess filmstrip so that my angles would be exact.

Originally this (below) was how I was going to lay out my card - one filmstrip with a sentiment for accent but something was missing.  The card seemed like it needed something more.  Something was missing.  I realized that I could use my remaining pieces of images that you see laying to the right of the card, to create additional filmstrips.  I took those pieces and adhered them to another 1 3/4" strip of black paper and strategically tucked them behind to make it look like I had several filmstrips.  Those additional strips are mounted directly to the card base while only that main filmstrip is popped.

Adding those extra filmstrips in the background, gave it the look I was going for.  I popped my sentiment and my card is complete.

Like most cards, it took a little playing around to get the look I was going for but I really like how the finished card turned out.  Just a fun, silly, quirky card that looks difficult but is really 1 image laid out in a way that makes it look like a whole lot more.  It was a blast to make.  How can those dancing piggies not make you smile?

Join us again next Monday for another Project of the Week and be sure to check out all the amazing images at Repeat Impressions shop.

Thanks so much for stopping by!

DCC Wednesday at Repeat Impresssions - Monochromatic

It's DCC Wednesday at Repeat Impressions and this week Deonna has selected our challenge - Monochromatic.

For my card I've used one of my favorite Repeat Impression's images - 1601-K Bear Hug

I love the look of coloring an image like a black and white photo so I kept that in mind for the monochromatic challenge.

The best part about a challenge is that you get to play along.   Create your own monochromatic card, link that card to the RI blog and you will be entered into a random drawing for an unmounted sheet of RI images.  Wendy has quite an amazing selection to choose from.  Go here to see the complete rules.
Don't forget to go here to see the cards by the rest of the Repeat Impressions RockStars.

Meljen's Design Challenge #210 - Floral Fantasy

This is my 2nd week playing along as a guest design team member for Meljen's Designs and this week they are having an especially fun challenge - Floral Fantasy.  If you follow me at all, you will know that I look at things from different point of view than most people.  Give me a challenge called floral fantasy and what I'm do I use as my focal point??? - a skunk.  lol!!!  This skunk image is super sweet - Little Skunk

I hadn't crocheted in years but recently I've pulled out my yarn and hooks I'm really lovin' it all over again. I came across a pattern for these adorable little flowers on Pinterest and figured this would be the perfect way to combine both my hobbies and create a unique embellishment for my cards. I think it turned out pretty cool!

So what is your floral fantasy?   What would you use as your focal point? lol!!  I'd love to see it.  Create your own floral fantasy card, link it to the Meljen's Design's Challenge Blog and you'll be entered into a random drawing for Meljen's Design digital images.  Remember, to be qualified for any prizes, you must use a Meljen's image on your project.

Have a great Thursday!
