Today, when my hubby gets off work, we are heading north to go camping. Since we went out west earlier this summer, we haven't had a chance to go camping yet this year so this will be a real treat for us.
Last year I learned to kayak - nothing fancy, just leisurely, relaxing ride around the edge of the lake - so we already have plans to take a ride this weekend. How perfect that today's DCC challenge, chosen by fellow RI Rockstar Joy, is to use a water element. This kayak image really fits my thinking - both for today's challenge and for our plans this weekend.
This image is called Kayaker - 2918-K.
Here is my close up. Not sure if you can see it, but I used a touch of Spica marker to give a little sparkle to the water.
Hey, guess what? This is a challenge so you can play along. What have you been doing or seeing in the water this year? Grab a water element image - whether its a bird, a fish, a boat, a reflection, create a card, link it here and you will be entered in a random drawing for a chance win a $25 gift certificate to the RI store. Go here to see the full rules for this challenge.
Don't forget to go here to see the cards created by the rest of the RI Rockstars.
Thanks for stopping by. I hope you get a chance to play along.

Saturated Canary #48 - Glamour & Glitz
I had a few minutes this evening so I took the opportunity to make a card for the latest Saturated Canary challenge. I actually lucked out. This was an image that I had a colored a while back so putting the card together went pretty fast. With these adorable Saturated Canary images, it doesn't take much to fulfill the glamour & glitz challenge - these images glam up any patterned paper. For this card I used the image called Thank you. I used a couple different kinds of glittery patterned paper and accented it with a fancy 3-d flourish.
Here's a close up. Isn't that image just the cutest?!
Time to crash for the night.

SOTW Monday! - Butterfly
Its SOTW Monday and this week Repeat Impressions is featuring another beautiful stamp - 9009-F Butterfly (sm) from the Summer Series. I love butterflies and this one even more lovely since it is 50% off, this week only.
Here is my card using this beautiful butterfly image.
I have been admiring all the cards out there with the hex accents. I thought this would be the perfect time to give it a try. I wanted to make the coloring on the butterfly really pop, so I went with black and white hexes on a mild green card base.
You can go here to see the rest of the SOTW cards created by the RI Rock stars. Don't forget to check out the full details on how to get this beautiful butterfly stamp at 50% off. This is one of those classic stamps that is a perfect addition to any stampers collection.
Thanks so much for stopping by.

Send a Smile 4 Kids - Christmas in July 4 Kids
Like most of the country, it has been very, very hot here the last few weeks. I'm not complaining though! This last winter was terrible. It just wouldn't end! So every time I start grumbling about being uncomfortable, I just think about that long winter and it sparks me back to appreciation. And yes, we do have air conditioning in our house. : ) Not everyone does in Central Wisconsin.
As I was hiding out in my house trying to stay cool, I was working on the cards for this weeks S.A.S.4K.'s challenge - Christmas in July 4 Kids.
As with all the S.A.S.4K challenges, we have 3 amazing sponsors this week - here are this weeks sponsors.
Here is my 1st card - this image and sentiment are from Crackerbox Palace. Look at Santa rock out!!! I love it! and I bet a sick kiddo in the hospital would too.
Here is my 2nd card. This adorable bunny slipper image is from Clearly Digi Images. Now, bunny slippers may not say Christmas to most people, but it does to me. I just love the cozy smells of Christmas and being home, opening presents in my favorite comfy pajamas and those bunny slippers fit right in that cozy scene. I love days like that.
This sentiment is just something I typed up on my computer.
So, I bet the weather is hot where you are too, but pull out a fan and a glass of lemonade, find someplace almost cool to work and create some Christmas in July cards 4 kids. Link those cards here on the S.A.S.4K.'s blog and you will be entered in a random drawing where you could win one of those amazing prizes from our sponsors. S.A.S.4K's also picks a 'top 3' so 3 artists will be selected and honored for that. Go here to see the full challenge rules.
Go here to see the Christmas cards 4 kids created by the rest of the S.A.S.4K.'s design team. Wow!!! they've created some amazing cards to inspire you.
Don't forget, you can donate any cards to be given to kids who are in children's hospitals around the country. Go here to see how you can do that.
Thanks so much for stopping by today. Stay cool and safe.
Joyce
P.S. I am entering the following challenges.
Card 1 - Clear i Stamp Challenge - Christmas in July
Card Making Mama's - Monochromatic
Card 2 - Cut it up challenge Blog - Christmas in July - must use die cuts
Fairy tale Challenge - Christmas in July

Meljen's Challenge # 168 - Tag-you're it!!!
For the last few weeks I've had some projects that were taking up much of my crafting time, then we were on vacation out west. Now we're back and its been fun to be between projects because I have been playing just for fun. No schedules, no deadlines, no Etsy orders. Just playing for fun. I love that!!!
One of my favorite blogs to stop at is Meljen's Designs. There is always something fun going on there. I don't generally get to play along with the challenges but this weeks, since I'm doing projects just for fun, I decided to make a point of getting in on this challenge. It's one of my favorites - Tag-you're it!!! Whoop Whoop!!
Here's my tag using a Meljen image. Isn't this snowman adorable? I can see myself using this image a lot this Christmas. So super cute.
This image is called the Christmas Star Snowman.
Lets see, can I sneak a few more projects in before I have to get back on schedule? *giggles* Let's see what else I can post this week.

DCC Challenge - Humor Me
It's my turn to pick the DCC Challenge at Repeat Impressions. What should I pick??? *ponder, ponder* What should I pick??
If you have ever had the chance to shop at the Repeat Impressions store, you know that they have tons of humorous, funny and just silly images and verses. I thought that might make a great challenge - creating a humorous card.
Here's my just "humor me" card. The image I used is called underpants frogs - 7120-L.
As if that image isn't silly enough, you have to take a closer look at the last line of this sentiment called "may the light" 7007-J.
You just gotta love those silly frogs!!!

Mo's Challenge #193 - Celebrate Love
Do you have days where you know you "should" be doing something and you just don't do it? You go and do something just for fun. I was having one of those days today. I have some things I should be getting done but instead I created a card for the latest challenge over at Mo's Challenge Blog - Celebrate Love.
Here's my card. I bought this image quite a while ago and have never used it. This was the perfect challenge to bring it out and ink it up.
Here's a close up of the embellishments I used to dec out this card.

Lady Anne's Progressive Christmas Challenge #6
The weather has been very warm & humid here in Central Wisconsin, so it has been kind of strange to create Christmas cards but I was able to complete my cards for Lady Anne's Progressive Christmas Challenge. These adorable stamps this month were supplied by DS4J (Digi Stamps 4 Joy).
Here is my 1st card - I love the classy, simplicity of this image. All it takes is a little touch of color to create a very beautiful focal point. I used just one Copic marker on the globe of this Christmas bulb. I matted this image with shiny gold paper and then attached it to a background paper that is gold with red flocking. The flocking very nearly matches the swirls on the Christmas bulb.
Here is my 2nd card. This image reminds me of Christmas decorations from when I was a child - those classic, cozy holiday decorations. The background paper on this card is a dark green vellum with glittery flourishes running through it.
It certainly has been fun playing along with this progressive challenge. I've enjoyed playing along with this challenge and very much appreciate the free images I have received each month.
Thanks so much for stopping by

What If? Wednesday - Sketch J1013
We've just gotten back for a 10 day trip out west (Bear Tooth pass, Yellowstone, The Tetons, Idaho, Salt Lake City, and more). We drove a total of 3766 miles. Yikes! wonderful and exhausting at the same time. My son and I each took about 600 photos, so I may even do some scrapbooking.
But for today, its What If? Wednesday at Repeat Impressions. As always, Wendy has supplied us with an amazing sketch. I love a sketch like this because, not matter what you do with it, it helps you to create an awesome card.
But for today, its What If? Wednesday at Repeat Impressions. As always, Wendy has supplied us with an amazing sketch. I love a sketch like this because, not matter what you do with it, it helps you to create an awesome card.
This is where I like to choose 3 completely different but coordinating papers or maybe emboss the same color card stock with 3 different embossing folders. Here the card I created for this sketch.
This card would be perfect for any sentiment but I chose to make this a sympathy card. This sentiment is Repeat Impressions image Deepest Sympathy - 4025-F.
As always, the What If? Wednesday sketch is a challenge, so you can play along. Just create your own card using this sketch for inspiration, link it to the Repeat Impressions blog, and you will be entered into a random drawing for an amazing prize - a $25 gift certificate to the RI store. I can't wait to see what you create.

S.A.S.4K.'s Challenge - Using punches and/or dies on kids cards
It seems like FOREVER since we've had a S.A.S.4K.'s challenge. I'm soooo glad its time for another one. This week, we are being challenged to use punches and/or dies on cards 4 kids. Awesome!!!!
As always, we have 3 amazing sponsors for this challenge and they are giving out some great prizes to our random winners.
As always, we have 3 amazing sponsors for this challenge and they are giving out some great prizes to our random winners.
- Delicious Doodles - is giving 4 digis of the winners choice.
- Sassy Studios - is also giving 4 digi images of the winners choice.
- QKR Stampede - is giving 5 digi images of the winners choice.
Wow! A huge thank you to those amazing sponsors.
The image on my first card is from Delicious Doodles. I'm lovin' these butterflies. I added some punched butterflies - the large one is from glitter paper. The others are cut from some speckles paper. I blinged them up with some rhinestones. That image is gorgeous and so easy to color.
Here's a close up for you.
On my 2nd card, I am featuring an image from Sassy Studios. Isn't she gorgeous!!! I used one of my favorite border punches (I believe its a Martha) to accent the strip of paper down the middle. Then I used that same border punch to create the flower embellishment. I just HAD to add that huge rhinestone in the center of the flower.
The back ground paper is a medium blue shimmer paper. It looks almost black on the full size card. Hopefully you can see the actual color on this close up. If you look closely, you can see that I also glitzed up her gown with some glitter gel pen. I love the subtle effect that can have on an image, even if it doesn't show up real easily on a photo.
So remember, this is a challenge, so I invite you to play along. Create your own kids card using punches and/or dies, link it back to the S.A.S.4K.'s blog and you will be entered in a random drawing for a chance to win some of those awesome prizes from our sponsors. S.A.S.4K.'s also selects their top 3 cards so wouldn't it be great to be selected for that honor.
P.S. - S.A.S.4K.'s is a great cause, so please consider donating some of your cards - go here to see how to do that. It's a great feeling to be able to put a smile on a sick kiddos face. Help to make their stay in the hospital a little more pleasant - even if just for a moment.
Thanks for stopping by!

DCC - Monochromatic
Its DCC Wednesday at Repeat Impressions and this weeks theme goes perfect with the color scheme I've been veering to lately. This weeks DCC was chosen by Deonna - Monochromatic. I've been on such a black, white & red kick lately, so this challenge works out perfect for me - I just stuck to the black color scheme. Earlier this week, I created a card using the SOTW - this Leaf Motif - 6621-I.
I was just lovin' how this image looked so I decided to take it one step further and use it on my DCC card. I stamped this image with VersaMark on black paper and then heat set it with clear embossing powder. I just love how that clear embossing powder looks on dark paper. I used various border punches and strips of black paper to stick with that one color theme.
Here's a close up - hopefully you can see that embossing a little more clearly. This card was actually quite difficult to photograph since it is so monochromatic.
So I have 2 bits of good news for you - 1) this is a challenge, so go ahead and play along with us. Create your own monochromatic card, link it on the Repeat Impressions blog, and you will be entered in a drawing for a $25 gift certificate to the RI store. 2) Since this image is the RI SOTW, it is a whopping 50% off. Grab it this week to catch that discount. Go here to find out how - scroll down to Monday's post for the full details.
Thanks so much for stopping by and I hope you'll play along
