Repeat Impressions - DCC Challenge - Fall

Its a DCC Wednesday at Repeat Impressions and this weeks challenge was chosen by Geri - Fall.   Fall is my favorite season - I love the colors, the smells and those gorgeous sunny fall days.  Wish the season would last for 6 month.  

Today's card is my last card as a Repeat Impressions Rockstar.  I have been part of this amazing design team for 2 years.   Wendy & Bill from RI are amazing people and working with them has truly been a treat.  I can't thank them enough for their generosity and kindness.

For my fall card, I used some of my favorite RI images. 2908-I Shade of the Elm & 5127-G Maple Leaf Sill.  I've used this elm tree image numerous times but always with bright summer greens.  This is the first time I've colored this same image with 'fall leaves'.   I love how it turned out.  Hard to believe this is the same image.  How fun.

RI - DCC - Black, White & Gray

This week, the Repeat Impressions DCC challenge was selected by Cheri - Black, White & Gray.  I love using black, white and any other color, so this challenge is right up my alley. 

For my card, I used one of my favorite RI images called 708-K - Rebecca. I colored this image with all gray Copic markers to make it look like a black and white photo.  I think that stark look is so striking.

POTW - Halloween Treats

I'm Joyce and it's my turn to bring you the Repeat Impressions Project Of The Week (POTW). 

I love making 3-D items - specifically treats and party favors.  It's been a while since I've made any, so its time.  I decided to make that my POTW. 

I love these super simple treats!!! They can be made to fit any holiday, gathering or mile stone.

Stamp and color the images you'll want to use for this project.  

You can use almost any kind of small snack for this project.  I wanted to use a mini Kit Kat bar but didn't have any in the house.  The only thing I had around were these York Peppermint Patties and they have a Christmas images on the wrapper so they are obviously left over from last year.  Yikes! 

Cut and score the patterned paper.  Lay out your patterned paper wrong side up.  Place your snack on top of it, centered from left to right.  Cut your paper down so that it is 3/4" longer than the snack on the top & the bottom.   From left to right be sure that you have enough paper to wrap around the snack and overlap by at least a 1/2".  Score left & right of the snack leaving a 1/4" gap - make that gap 1/4" from the candy and not the edge of the wrapper since the wrapper doesn't really take up space in the treat wrapper.

Add some 1/2" double stick tape along the top edge and bottom edge of the snack holder - just along the middle section of the paper.  Add a strip of 1/4" double stick tape to either the left or right edge of the wrapper.  

 

 

Overlap the patterned paper along the back edge of the snack wrapper.  Once that back seam is secured, sneak between the layers to remove the backing off that 1/2" double stick tape. Be sure the treat is enclosed before you seal the wrapper shut.   Press those upper and lower seams to be sure they are secure.  If you have a crimper, you can crimp that upper and lower edge to give them a very professional appearance. 

 

 

 

Now its time to decorate your wrapper. 

 

I've created 3 examples for you.  First I created a belly band to go around the middle of the treat wrapper.  I topped it off with this very cool image called 2308-E Bats. 

 

 

 

Then I created a treat with this adorable, spooky cat peaking out of a jack-o-lantern - 806-G Jacko-'lantern Cat.  I used the following Copic markers:  YR65 ,YR68 for the jack-o-lantern, YR23 for the jack-o-lantern face, and C-3 & C-5 for the cat.

 

 

This last version is my favorite version.  Check out this candy corn.  This image is called 2306-D Candy Corn.  Copic markers used:  Y11, Y15 for the yellow stripe, YR65, YR68 for the orange stripe & C-1 for some shadowing on the white section.

Repeat Impressions - What If? Wednesday - Sketch S0314

For my card, I used 2 RI images.  Those moose are called 802-K Moose Family Silhouette.  I went to Northern Minnesota this weekend with my family and one of our hopes was to see a moose.  We have never seen a moose in the wild before so we were really hoping.......  Nope, never happened.   Still no moose for us.  Well, if we can't see them in the wild, I had to create them instead. This image was a perfect reflection of what was on my mind.  That sentiment goes right along with that same theme.  It's called 3120-H Where there's.....

Repeat Impressions - DCC Challenge - Celebrate Birthday's

This weeks Repeat Impressions DCC challenge was selected by Melissa - Celebrate Birthday's.  We can never have enough birthday cards on hand so not only is this a fun challenge but it helps supply my card stash too.  lol!!!

For my card I used 2 RI images.  That adorable dancing bunny is 2610-J Jump For Joy.  Seriously, isn't he just the sweetest thing?   That vertical sentiment is also a RI image - 6104-J Birthday Vertical.  RI has an amazing assortment of vertical images and sentiments.

It's What If? Wednesday at Repeat Impressions and Wendy has an amazing sketch for us. 

For my card, I used RI image 1320-M Spring Blossoms.  I love this beautiful image.  Since this image is on the tall side, I decided to flip the sketch to help everything fit better.  I decided to have my 3 stripes go completely across the card. then I wasn't sure what I should use for the 3 embellishments along the right side but decided on these basic buttons to stick with the CAS look I had going on.  It felt good to use an embossing folder.  Its been a while.

DCC - Blues

It's DCC Wednesday at Repeat Impressions and its my turn to pick the challenge - I've chosen blues.  

For my blue card, I used one of my favorite RI images - 708-K Rebecca.  I used blue, blue & more blue on this card.  I colored her dress with blue Copic markers, matted with blue card stock, layered on a couple different styles of blue printed paper, then added a blue rhinestone flourish.  Too much?   I think its just right.

Repeat Impressions - What If? Wednesday A0614

It feels like forever since I've posted on my blog.  Hard to believe its only been a week.  It's been a busy summer with beautiful, but mild, weather.  All I know is that I want to make the most of each day, just in case we have a harsh winter like the last two. 

I still have been able to sneak in some card making and I couldn't miss out on this weeks challenge at Repeat Impressions.  It's What if? Wednesday so that means an awesome sketch.

 

For my card, I used Repeat Impressions 9304-L Martini from the Pairings series.  I also used RI's 9305-C Olives from that same series to pop that sweet little olive. That background paper has a lot of sparkle to it.  Then I added a flourish of  gems across the top of the card.

Repeat Impressions - DCC Wednesday - Sparkle, Glitter, Bling

I'm home from a nice, relaxing week of vacation, camping in Northern Wisconsin.   My time away was exactly what I needed.  Just peace, quiet and a break away from everyday life.    

I'm home just in time to play along with the DCC challenge at Repeat Impressions.  This weeks challenge was chosen by Karen - she has picked Sparkle, Glitter, Bling. 

For my card, I used Repeat Impressions 8721-I Floral Peace (lg).  I love this fun image and I have used it several times but I was thrilled when I found this printed paper that matches perfectly. Better yet, the printed paper has sparkle to it - perfect for this challenge.  First I colored this image with Copic markers but then I topped it off with some glitter Spica markers to add some glitter.  If that wasn't enough, I matted that image and the background paper with teal glitter paper.  That sentiment is also from RI. That's a from the Quartet Complements series - 8623-D Brighten.  I added a shiny teal pearl to that sentiment for a little bling.

I know its hard to see the sparkle, glitter & bling, so here is a close up.

My husband and I are camping in Northern Wisconsin this week so this peaceful image was an obvious choice for me.  It is RI image 2908-I Shade of the elm (scenic series).  Much of our time is spent riding around on our scooters, going for walks, hanging out at the beach and with me making cards.  LOL!  What could be more relaxing than that?

My husband and I have taken some time to do some kayaking the last couple of summer.  Nothing crazy, just some relaxing rides on our favorite lake.  To me, kayaking is summer fun.  This RI image 2918-K Kayaker. is the perfect image to reflect that.

Repeat Impressions Project Of The Week - Making Your Own Chevron

Joyce here, and its my turn to present the Repeat Impression's Project Of The Week. 

I really enjoy all the chevron printed paper that is currently available.  It's such a fun look.  I've have also seen some instructions online showing how to make your own chevron accents for you projects.  I thought I'd play around with that a little bit and show you a few different looks.

First, I'll show you a super quick way to create the basic chevron look.  Select a paper that fits the card you are planning to create.  Cut the paper into small squares.  I used 1 1/4" squares for most of my version but this same design can be created using whichever size squares you like.

Once you cut your squares, cut them on half from corner to corner to create triangles. 

Like this.....

Draw a faint pencil mark across the width of the card at whatever height you would like - I placed mine at 2" from the bottom. 

 



Place the long edge of each triangle along the pencil line.  Get one glued down and just build off of that. 

 

Now, you just add another row of triangles on the opposite side of that same pencil line.  I left just the smallest gap between rows.  Just line up that first triangle using that upper row as a guide - just shift it over half the length of a triangle.  The end tip of the lower triangle should be straight down from the highest part of the upper triangle.  Once you have that first triangle glued down, the next ones go in very easily till your row is complete.

 



 

Cut any long ends off, using the edge of the card as a guide. 

 

 





Here is one version of a card using this chevron design.  This image is RI 8204-H Kitten.  I colored this adorable kitty with my Copic markers (E51, E53, E55 and just a few touches of E57).

Once I had one card made, I just had to see what other looks could be created using this same idea. 

 



Next I created a card using embossed paper.  What I like about creating my own chevrons is that you can make them whatever color or size you want.  Where preprinted paper may not have that exact color your looking for.

My last version is a layered chevron.

I did this the same as I did my original card, but in this case I made my pencil line on that blue background paper.  Once the triangles were adhered, I just made some simple straight cuts about an 1/8" away from the chevron paper to create little matted background. 

I've been having fun creating with these chevron backgrounds.  An interesting background can be a huge step towards creating a great card.  Add one of the beautiful images from Repeat Impressions and you have something special.

I was undecided if I should go with a rectangular card with a circle accent or go with a tent card with a circle off the top. I think either one would make a great card, but I went with the tent card.  I must have really been looking for a change of pace because this cute Halloween bat image really caught my attention.  This is RI image 2308-E Bats.  That sentiment is also a RI image - 2302-G Trick or Treat.

DCC Wednesday at Repeat Impressions - Fur or Winged Things

Happy DCC Wednesday at Repeat Impressions.  Deonna selected this weeks challenge - Fur or Winged Things.  That is an awesome challenge because Repeat Impressions has a huge selection of both fur & winged images - everything from an actual bear to soft fuzzy teddy bears.  Pretty little butterflies, sweet little fairies, all the way to long legged cranes. 

I chose one of my favorite RI images - 7122-G Yikes Cat from the Funny Bone series.  I have inked up this image several times and I am pleased with it every time I use it.  It's always makes me smile.  That adorable vertical sentiment is RI - 8213-E I Love Cats.   I love vertical images and that one is especially sweet.

It's a Repeat Impressions Blog Hop -

It's a huge day for me!  I have two blog posts today.  If your looking for my Meljen's Design's post, you will see it below, just scroll down.  If your here for the Repeat Impressions blog hop, Welcome!!! I'm glad your here. 

Wendy at Repeat Impressions really has her creative juices flowing.  You may remember we had a blog hop in May for her new Wine Time series.  Last month we had a blog hop for the new  Bottoms Up!!! series.   Today we are unveiling the new Contain Yourself series. 

 

 

 

What an amazing collection of containers.  These images are available individually or by the full unmounted sheet.

 

I made 2 cards using images from this great news series.  For my first card, I used several images. That fish bowl is image 9712-Q Fish Bowl.  That fun fish is 9716-H Fish Face.  The stream of bubbles is called 9713-E Bubbles and the sweet sentiment is 9720-C Big Wishes.

 

 

I just love this fish.  This is the perfect type of image to add dimension to.  Color the image on a base piece of card stock, then stamp it again on a small, scrap of card stock.  Color that 2nd image and cut out the portion that you want to use to create dimension.  Use foam tape and sandwich directly over that first, base image.  Super simple and a great way to make a card special. 

 

 

 

For my second card I tried some other images from this new series.  That great jar is called 9705-M Jar.  That lovely bundle of wild flowers is 9706-U Flowers and that sweet sentiment is 9711-E, I Love You....

DCC Wednesday at Repeat Impressions - Shaped Cards

It's time for another DCC Wednesday at Repeat Impressions and this weeks challenge has been chosen by Karen.  She has challenged us to create shaped cards. 

For my shaped card, I used a couple RI images.  The sentiment is 9314-E Sew Special from the Pairings Series.  Those buttons are part of an RI image called  4126-G Cute as a Button.  I used just the button portion of the image, colored it, then stitched it to the card stock to make it look like a button card.

Repeat Impressions DCC - Baby Cards

Its time for a DCC challenge at Repeat Impressions and this weeks challenge was selected by Joy.  She has chosen baby themed cards. 

For my card, I used RI image 805-L Noah's Ark. This is an image from the RI toy series but I think it goes perfect on a baby card.  I colored the image with my Copic markers, and inked the background to create the water.  I went with some non traditional colors for this card but I think it turned out great.
